Internships

YACA is proud to be able to provide tailored internship opportunities with guidance from our program staff and our non-profit executives. And for those that qualify, we do offer university credit through your institution, pending approval by appropriate faculty and registrar.

Marketing and PR

Working under the supervision of the Executive Director, you will help with the marketing and advertising for an upcoming YACA program or production. Responsibilities include:

  • Create and maintain computer-based updates.

  • Make phone contact with schools and children’s groups in the area for ticket sales.

  • Complete ticket sales and delivery of tickets.

  • Provide schools and other groups with advertising information and group rate information.

Experience in marketing, advertising, theatre, and/or digital design is helpful, but not mandatory.

Accounting and Admin

Working under the direction of the Executive Director and/or the Development Committee Director, you will help with YACA budgets, have the opportunity to do basic bookkeeping, learn our QuickBooks system, and run reports with measurable benchmarks against program expenditures. Responsibilities include:

  • Have regular meetings with the Executive Director and the volunteer accountant.

  • Maintain donor database and financial journal entries.

  • Prepare bank deposits.

  • Manage program expenses and budget reports.

Experience with Microsoft Office (especially Excel), QuickBooks, and/or balancing sheets is helpful, but not mandatory.

 

Summer Artistic Counselor

Working under the supervision of the Summer Program Director and Artistic Directors, you will travel with a group of children in the program. This intern, if appropriate, will also be responsible for planning artistic lessons to teach to campers. Responsibilities include:

  • Work directly with school aged children.

  • Fully participate in daily activities.

Any artistic training in acting, writing, visual arts, singing, any musical instrument, dance, yoga, construction, set design, costuming, puppetry, etc. highly desired.

To be considered for this position, applicants MUST:

  • Be willing to submit to a criminal background check and child abuse history check with the appropriate authorities.

  • Attend staff meetings, training, and assist in site builds and set-up as needed

Events and Fundraisers

Working under the supervision of the Auction Coordinator, you will help with the organization and coordination of YACA’s Auction. This fundraiser is one of the biggest fundraisers of YACA’s fiscal year and is done entirely online! It features products and services from all around the Philadelphia area and beyond. Responsibilities include:

  • Make phone calls to solicit potential donors and follow-up with them for goods and services.

  • Create thank-you notes and receipts for the donors.

  • Work with local businesses to secure donations.

  • Contact winning bidder to secure payment.

  • Ship gifts to the winning bidder.

Experience marketing, advertising, and/or working with Dreamweaver is helpful, but not mandatory.
